This document is designed to get you started on using your space, it is not, however, going to teach you how to make a web page. You can do anything you wish to do in your Personal Web Space. You can create CGI scripts, run Java applets, Dynamic HTML, VRML, Shockwave creations, imagemaps and just about anything you can think of. The Technical Department is constantly adding features and improving performance on all of our Personal Web Servers. If you experience a problem with your web page, such as pictures not loading, your .wav files will not load, or your cgi and perl scripts are not functioning properly, please direct any questions you may have to webmaster@outdrs.net.   Do not call the Customer Service Department. Personal Web Pages are considered "self-serve", meaning that the user is responsible for the design, troubleshooting and support of the Personal Web Page. This account is not activated by default, please request it be activated via email. When sending this email, please use your @outdrs.net email account for authentication. Your email username will be your site's address: http://outdrs.net/~username Outdoors Unlimited does not maintain regular backups of your personal site. Choosing Your FTP Program FTP, or File Transfer Protocol, is how we send files around the internet. Your web pages are first created on your computer, and then uploaded to your personal account on the server for display for all to see. Two of the most popular FTP programs are WS_FTP and CuteFTP. All FTP software will be configured in about the same manner, we will focus on these two programs in this guide. WS_FTP is free for those who qualify. Download here. CuteFTP is about $40, a free 30 day evaluation is available for download here. Links for other FTP programs will be added as requested.
